Last night, the Philadelphia Flyers beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-1, giving them their first victory against Pittsburgh in two seasons. The Flyers got it started early with a goal by Joffrey Lupul (5th) 28 seconds into the game. Five minutes later, the Flyers tallied another goal as Jeff Carter (7th) received a great pass from Scott Hartnell in the slot. Mike Richards (9th) added the Flyers third goal in the second period after he put a wrist shot past Sabourin on a 2 on 1 break. Jason Smith had his first assist as a Flyer on Richard's goal.
The Flyers finally set the tempo in the first period and they never looked back. They outplayed the Penguins the entire night. Marty Biron made 26 saves in the victory. Also, the Flyers were the first team all season to kill every penalty against the Penguins.
The Flyers make their first visit ever to the Prudential Center in Newark tomorrow to face the Devils. The game is on ComcastSportsnet beginning at 7pm.
