Sixers Sign 1st Pick

Saturday, July 19, 2008 · 0 Comments

After drafting the guy that almost everybody wanted to see in a Sixers uniform, the team signed Marreese Speights to a 2 year, $2.6 million contract with an option for 2 more years. The 6'10'' forward from Florida was drafted 16th overall last month and is now ready to make an impact for Philadelphia this upcoming season.

Speights posted good numbers in the Sixers summer league in Vegas. In 5 games, he averaged 18.2 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks a game. His numbers a s a sophomore in college were good too, averaging 14.5 points and 8.1 boards.

With the addition of Elton Brand and now Speights, the Sixers are heading in the right direction to be a solid playoff contender that can win 1 or 2 series.

Sixers extend Cheeks' contract

Wednesday, February 20, 2008 · 0 Comments

The Sixers and coach Maurice Cheeks agreed to a one year contract extension Wednesday, giving him until the 2008-09 season to get Philly back in the playoffs.

“Coach Cheeks has done a very good job of installing an up-tempo brand of basketball that puts this team in a position to succeed on a nightly basis and we are excited about the future under his direction, Sixers president Ed Stefanski said.

He's a good coach in my opinion. He has this team set to win. They are a much better team without AI. Giving him another year will allow him more time with a better team.

I'm not an NBA buff but I figured this was important news.

Sixers Win 5 Straight!

Thursday, February 14, 2008 · 0 Comments

Sorry that I am late. I had to be in to work early this morning, but the 76ers won their 5th straight game last night and swept their homestand by beating the Memphis Grizzlies 102-88.

I am sure must of you were already aware of this game, so I will not analyze it.

Nothing exciting to report lately

Wednesday, December 26, 2007 · 0 Comments

There's been nothing really to report. Sports in Philly have been boring if not depressing. The Eagles are eliminated from the playoffs, the Flyers are on a 6-game losing streak (2 points), and the Sixers are having another dismal season. The only bright spot is the Phillies can't depress us with blowing it even though their front office has been dormant other than siging Jenkins and Taguchi and trading for Lidge.

-Pats/Giants to be aired on national TV

Flyers Win, Sixers Lose

Thursday, November 29, 2007 · 0 Comments

Does Snider care about the Sixers?

Last night the 76ers lost to the Utah Jazz 106-95. The Sixers coming off a nice win last night over the Bucks failed to come out with the same intensity. After down 13-2 early, they battled back and held the league through much of the first half, but fell behind by 5 at half time and never inched closer. They have yet to win consecutive games all season. National League MVP Jimmy Rollins was at the game.

In positive news, the Philadelphia Flyers welcomed Derian Hatcher back to the line-up and he put the Flyers on the board first in the second period. Kimmo Timonen and Mike Knuble, who had a goal and 2 assists, on the night added two more goals for the Flyers to beat the Hurricanes 3-1. Biron was phenomenal in the win as he had 40 saves.

Thanks to the NHL and Youtube, you are left with highlights from the game.

Sixers fall to 2-5

Wednesday, November 14, 2007 · 0 Comments

Last Night, the 76ers fell to 2-5. The Sixers had a 50-43 halftime lead, but allowed Dallas to open up the second half with a 16-2 run. The Mavericks went on to beat the 76ers 99-84. Andre Iguodala had a double double and a near triple-double in the loss. He might be on his way to earning that $77 million contract he wants.

The Sixers have lost 3 straight and are sitting the Atlantic division's cellar.

The 76ers were pounced!

Monday, November 12, 2007 · 0 Comments

The Sixers lost to the Hornets 93-72 last night. Samuel Dalembert had a double-double in the losing effort. I emphasize losing effort. After the first quarter, it looked like the Sixers just coasted through the rest of the game.

A small introduction...

We Hate to Lose began in October 2007. The initial purpose of the website was to provide news updates and commentary on all four major sports teams in Philadelphia. Because of time-constraints, in April of 2009, I decided to post only on my first-love, the Philadelphia Phillies.

My name is Justin Evans and I hope you enjoy the site.
