Power Rankings - Week 5

Wednesday, October 8, 2008 ·

Last week, I was caught up in the Phillies postseason run that I completely forgot to do last week's power rankings. Well, yes, I also had a bitter taste in my mouth from the Eagles loss to the Bears. Well my taste got more bitter after this week, so don't expect to see our beloved Eagles in a favorable spot.

The defending champions continue to hold my top spot, but there may be a few more surprises and one team that has rose quickly in the rankings -- that team being the Washington Redskins.

01. New York Giants (4-0) - Every week I try to come up with a new reason to say they're not good, but they're good.

02. Tenneesee Titans (5-0) - They're playing like the top team in the AFC, regardless of their schedule. Chris Johnson is a rising star.

03. Dallas Cowboys (4-1) - They are still the most on-paper talented team in football, but it's Dallas and since the 90s, they've lived short of expectations.

04. Washington Redskins (4-1) - Jason Campbell is coming into his own. They also do a very good job of keeping their banged up defense off the field with the running game.

05. Carolina Panthers (4-1) - Jake Delhomme is back to 2003 form and they have a good running attack.

06. Pittsburgh Steelers (4-1) - When 100%, they're the best team in the AFC, but they're not right now.

07. Buffalo Bills (4-1) - If they have to continue using JP Losman, they'll drop faster than the stock market.

08. Denver Broncos (4-1) - They finally got a defensive win, but they still have a lot of holes in score prevention.

09. New England Patriots (3-1) - It'll take Cassell some time, but Belichick will have him carrying the team to fundamental wins sooner than later.

10. Chicago Bears (3-2) - Kyle Orton, really? The Bears are 2 4th quarter collapses away from being 5-0.

See the rest after the jump.

12. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
13. Indianapolis Colts
14. San Diego Chargers

A small introduction...

We Hate to Lose began in October 2007. The initial purpose of the website was to provide news updates and commentary on all four major sports teams in Philadelphia. Because of time-constraints, in April of 2009, I decided to post only on my first-love, the Philadelphia Phillies.

My name is Justin Evans and I hope you enjoy the site.
