Say what you want about DeSean Jackson's size, but he is a playmaker and is extremely explosive. McNabb asked for playmakers on the team and the Eagles got one in the second round. As a receiver and punt returner, Desean Jackson find the end zone 29 times in 36 games. He holds the Pac-10 record with 6 punt returns for touchdowns and is only 2 shy of the NCAA record of 8 held by Wes Welker.
Positives: Shows a sudden burst to elude in the open field. Highly motivated and intense player who works to finish and is not afraid of contact. Gives a good effort in the training room and is an intelligent athlete who knows how to gameplan for his upcoming opponent. Holds the ball after the collision. Runs posts and slants cleanly. Has been training with Hall of Famer Jerry Rice over the past few months. 4.3 forty speed.
Negatives: Has a small frame and it could cause him to be fragile in the NFL. Still a little raw on running routes, just like every other wide receiver in this year's draft. Needs to keep his hands more active when he tried to break away from the press. Needs to cut down on his trash-talking because he'll likely pay for it in the NFL. Needs to add more bulk as long as it does not hinder his running ability.
Comparable: Steve Smith. Some experts to compare him to Santana Moss and Devin Hester, but with better hands and more of a deep threat than Hester.
Pick Grade: A
