Regarding Iguchi

Saturday, December 8, 2007 ·

Sorry, I meant to post this yesterday.

With regards to signing Iguchi, it is rumored that the Phillies were told that there will be no chance a waiver will be granted for them to sign him prior to May 15th.

If you were unaware, because of a certain clause in Iguchi's contract, which allowed him to skip arbitration and become and outright free-agent, has messed up the Phillies opportunity to sign Iguchi. Iguchi, who would still prefer to play second-base, cannot sign with the Phillies until May 15th because they failed to release him before his contract ran out. When he was released by his contract, he ultimately was unable to be offered arbitration, which disallows the Phillies to sign him past May 15. It is rare and it is screwy, but it is the case.

A small introduction...

We Hate to Lose began in October 2007. The initial purpose of the website was to provide news updates and commentary on all four major sports teams in Philadelphia. Because of time-constraints, in April of 2009, I decided to post only on my first-love, the Philadelphia Phillies.

My name is Justin Evans and I hope you enjoy the site.
