Flyers Make it a Bakers Dozen Over Atlanta

Thursday, January 22, 2009 ·

For the thirteenth straight time, the Flyers defeated the Atlanta Thrashers. Last night's defeat happened after the Flyers blew a 3-0 like, but Knuble scored 2 goals, including an empty netter in the third period for the 5-3 win.

During the first two periods, the Flyers completely dominated the game. Scott Hartnell and Darroll Powe notched pretty first period goals to give the Flyers a 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission. Randy Jones scored on a backhander in the second period to boost the lead to 3-0, but after the 2nd intermission, the Flyers sat on the lead a little bit and came out sloppy.

Atlanta scored three goals within a span of 6 minutes to tie the game, but Knuble's goal less than 2 minutes after the score was tied secured the win.

The Flyers head in to the all-star break two points out of first place behind the New Jersey Devils. The Flyers are 25-12-9 with 59 points. Having only Jeff Carter in the all-star game, the team will be able to use the five day break in between games. The team is also hopeful that Daniel Briere will finally return to the team after suffering another setback that will require explatory surgery and cause him to miss at least another two weeks.

A small introduction...

We Hate to Lose began in October 2007. The initial purpose of the website was to provide news updates and commentary on all four major sports teams in Philadelphia. Because of time-constraints, in April of 2009, I decided to post only on my first-love, the Philadelphia Phillies.
