Manuel Gets Extension

Tuesday, December 9, 2008 ·

Scott Lauber is reporting that Phillies manager, Charlie Manuel, has received an extension that will keep him as the manager through 2011. They picked up his option for 2010 and tacked on an extra year.

Good move by the Phillies. I know I've criticized some of his bonehead moves, but he still finds a way to win more games than he loses. He keeps the clubhouse calm and poised even when thing are bad. That is what a manager is supposed to do. Most of the wins and losses really come down to the personnel he has to work with and the players' performances.
