1 Run Actually Is Enough For A Change

Saturday, August 16, 2008 ·

Jamie Moyer pitched another magical game and Pat Burrell hit a solo home run. For once this year, that home run was enough for the Phillies to beat the San Diego Padres 1-0 at Petco Park. Moyer (11-7) went 7 innings, allowing 3 hits and 2 walks with 2 strike outs. Ryan Madson and JC Romero combined to pitch the 8th and Lidge pitched a perfect 9th for save number 29.

Pitching opposite of him was Greg Maddux, the Phillie killer. Maddux (6-9) went 7 innings as well, giving up 5 hits and the homer to Burrell. He also struck out 4.

Even though they won, the offense was still embarrassing, striking out 9 fucking times. I am sick of their lack of production and consistency when they so produce. They still trail the Mets by one game as they beat the Pirates yesterday.

Tonight the Phillies play at 10 EST and have Kyle Kendrick (10-6) on the mound. He will be facing Chad Reineke, who is making his MLB debut for the Padres.
