Shawn Andrews' Still AWOL

Thursday, July 31, 2008 ·

According to Peter King, Philadelphia Eagles pro-bowl guard, Shawn Andrews, is not in camp because he is dealing with personal problems and his mental state. King assures that it is NOT a contract holdout.

Shawn will be back," McNabb said today. "We've been playing phone tag, missing each other, but [he left me a message and] assured me things will be fine and he'll be back."
Max-Jean Gilles is getting all the work with the first team in place of Andrews. If you don't remember, Gilles was labeled as one of the "steals" of the draft when the Eagles selected him in the fourth round of the 2006 draft. Gilles was likely to challenge left guard Todd Herremans for a starting spot regardless. In the end, the Eagles really need the "Big Kid" back with the team, sooner than later. His value on the line has increased year after year. Hopefully, he takes care of whatever his problems are and gets to Lehigh as soon as possible.

A small introduction...

We Hate to Lose began in October 2007. The initial purpose of the website was to provide news updates and commentary on all four major sports teams in Philadelphia. Because of time-constraints, in April of 2009, I decided to post only on my first-love, the Philadelphia Phillies.

My name is Justin Evans and I hope you enjoy the site.
