Pat Burrell is showing the league why he got fucked over in a very big way (highlights after the jump). He was a big reason the Phillies beat the Diamondbacks 6-3, winning the series. With no outs and 2 men on, Burrell sent a shot to the left center seats for the go ahead 3 run homer. Pedro Feliz added a solo shot 2 batters later to cap off the 4 run 8th inning.
Cole Hamels got the start and pitched well despite being hit a hard a lot. He also got the scoring going for the Phillies with an RBI double in the 5th. Hamels went 7 innings and gave up 2 runs, including a home run in the 2nd to Chad Tracy. He struck out 8 and walked 1, giving up 11 hits.
Ryan Madson got the win, pitching a scoreless 8th and Lidge pitched the 9th, giving up a run but not recording the save because he entered with a 6-2 score.
Hamels outpitched Brandon Webb, who made the all star team. Webb went 7 innings as well, giving up 2 runs on 7 hits and struck out 6. Chad Qualls was the losing pitcher for Arizona as his low and away fastball found its way into the seats after Burrell reached over the plate for it.
Jimmy Rollins had an RBI single in the 7th to tie the game, his 2nd hit of the night. Feliz had 3 hits on the night as well with a solo shot coming in the 8th.
The Phillies played their last series of the first half. Tune in to watch the home run derby tomorrow night and pray Chase Utley doesn't do shit. I don't wanna see his swing get fucked up. The watch Tuesday as he lights up the American League. Maybe the NL will be up by less than 3 and we can see Brad Lidge close out the game. But the NL has to fucking win first.
