Breaking News: Brad Lidge Signs Extension!

Sunday, July 6, 2008 ·

Comcast Sportsnet has reported that Brad Lidge has just signed a 3 year, $37.5 million extension.

The acquisition of Brad Lidge couldn’t have worked out any better for the Phillies, and on Sunday they rewarded him with a three-year, $37.5 million extension.

The deal includes a club option for 2012.
This is such a great deal for the Phillies and for Brad Lidge. Brad Lidge has been absolutely lights out thus far and by the look of his stuff, it should continue. Lidge will earn an average of $12.5 per season and it'll ensure that the Phillies continue to have a premier closer at the back end of the bullpen.

Some people were a little skeptical of the Lidge trade when it happened, but he has been nothing less than phenomenal and now that he has been locked up, the deal proves to be great. This doesn't happen often Mr. Gillick, but thumbs up to you. Is this a sign of changes regarding the Phillies front office?

I hope it is. If we can nab or ink CC Sabathia, hello realistic World Series run.
