Flyers Win Game 4

Thursday, May 15, 2008 ·

Well, the Flyers sent their fans home happy at least for tonight. The Flyers beat the Penguins 4-2 tonight to extend the 7 series to at least a game 5. The Flyers came out roaring in the first period with a great backcheck and smooth breakouts. They scored 3 goals from Joffrey Lupul, Daniel Briere (PP), and Jeff Carter (PP).

The Flyers maintained the pressure through the second period as well as they continued to play physical and just skate circles around the penguins, but the game remained 3-0 heading into the third. However, the Flyers came out a little flat/conservative with the big lead and their conservative play has lead to problems in the past. Two Jordan Staal goals tied it up late in the third, but a Joffrey Lupul empty netter ended the scare and ensured a game 5.

The atmoshphere at the Wachovia Center was absolutely electric. In the final period, you would have thought that we were eliminating the Penguins tonight with the fans reactions late in the third. Anything can still happen. The Flyers won 4 straight against Montrael and they can win 4 straight here. All it takes is 1 more 1in at home and 2 in Pittsburgh. Definitely no easy task. Game 5 is Sunday on NBC @ 3. Let's Go Flyers!

When we get Timonen and Coburn back for Sunday, who gets benched?

Modry definitely, after that...I guess Kukkonen? He's played well, but Parent was terrific last night, and he was able to stay with Malkin and Crosby. Fuck it, we can win Sunday.

LET's Go FLYERS!!!

I think it'll be Parent. For some reason, Stevens really likes Kukkonen on the PK because of his ability to block shots, attempt to get in from of the puck. Parent did play very well, but he is still only 20. His track record isn't exactly there. We'll see. I would think Modry would definitely be one of the two.
