The Phillies signed reliever Rudy Seanez after yesterday's debacle. Seanez is expected to join the Phillies Wednesday. Seanez appeared in 73 games last year, posting a 6-3 record with a 3.79 ERA with the Dodgers. Opponents batted .266 off him and he allowed 1.38 batters to reach base per inning. He gave up more hits (78) than innings pitched (76), but he did not walk very many (27) and he struck out 73.
The Dodgers cut him last week after he posted a 7.71 ERA in four spring training games. The Phillies will have to make room for Seanez, so they will likely have to remove Wes Helms or Tim Lahey from the 25-man roster.
