Timonen/Coburn Interviews
Coburn and Timonen Could Play in Game 5
Good, no great news Flyers fans. Apparently not only Braydon Coburn may return to the lineup on Sunday, but there is also the possibility of Kimmo Timonen returning. [Comcast Sportsnet]
Timonen's return would be extremely huge as he is considered the Flyers' best defenseman and by some even their best overall player. Timonen's return would be an extreme boost to the character of the team as well as the power-play and penalty kill units."If I feel (Friday) that I'm good to go for Sunday, then I'm good for Sunday," Timonen said after Thursday's win. "There is nothing to prevent me from playing. I may have numbness in my toes, but if I can deal with that then I can play.
"We took another ultrasound, and based on that the doctor said I have a green light to give it a try. The doctor feels that there is no chance the clot is going to get loose or break up or anything like that. It's a great sign. A week ago they were afraid it was going to get bigger and cut loose."
Coburn had hoped to play in game 4 after practicing Wednesday, but the swelling did not subside enough in his left eye. Now, the Flyers have 2 nights off before game 5, which could help increase the chances of Coburn and Timonen's returns to the lineup. Of course, the Flyers should put neither player at any risk that could effect their future, which I think was a big reason why Coburn did not play tonight.

Braydon Coburn is Out for Game 3
Braydon Coburn's eye is still swollen shut and he will miss Game 3 against Pittsburgh. [ESPN]
He later mentioned that as soon as his eye opens up, he will return to playing. Once Coburn is able to return, he will wear a shield to protect the injury. Ryan Parent will replace Coburn in the lineup. Parent will likely begin the game paired with captain Jason Smith."I feel fine," the 23-year-old said. "My eye is swollen shut, so it makes it a little hard to do things. Besides that, I feel all right. I think as soon as my eye opens up, we'll re-evaluate what's going on.
The Flyers will have to bring their best game tonight and so will the fans. I'd expect some high energy early on, including big hits on Pittsburgh's stars, especially to seek revenge on Malkin's cheap hit on Danny Briere. I am predicting that the Flyers sneak away with a 3-2 win today. I really expect the crowd to play a huge factor for the Flyers. I also expect the Flyers to even the series. Call me a homer, but it is just a gut feeling. I don't see quit in this team.

Lupul, Downie, Hatcher Out, Coburn In -- Make it 7!
As the Flyers try to end their current losing streak, they will be doing so without wingers Steve Downie and Joffrey Lupul. Steve Downie has an upper body injury and he will be evaluated during the game. Lupul has a high ankle sprain and will be out indefinitely. Derian Hatcher is still battling a sore knee. The good news is that defenseman Braydon Coburn will return to the lineup.
Lets see if the Flyers can end their current 6 game losing streak as well as attempt to not be swept in the season series by Montreal.
Niittymaki will get his 2nd straight start.
Flyers lost their 7th straight game and have been swept in the season series by Montreal.
