Merry Christmas and To All an Update

First I would like to wish all of you Philly fans, sports fans, and even Cowboys, Mets, Rangers, or other rival fans, a happy and healthy Merry Christmas and Happy New Year or any day during the holiday season.

Now to the fun part, a Flyers recap and an Eagles rant. In the world of hockey, the Flyers rebounded from an OT loss to New Jersey and another loss to Edmonton to beat the Ottawa Senators 6-4 last night in Philly. After being up 4-2 on Ottawa, they allowed the Sens to get back in it. With 5:30 left in the game, Simon Gagne put the Flyers up for good. Mike Richards then added an empty netter to put the Sens away. The Flyers are now 2 points behind the New York Rangers, who have played 3 more games than Philly. They start their 6 game holiday road trip this Friday in Chicago at 8:30 and then to Columbus on Saturday and Vancouver on Tuesday to close out the 2008 portion of the season.

The Eagles play Sunday to close out the regular season. They will face Dallas in Philly. A win along with a Tampa Bay and Chicago loss will get them into the playoffs. Tampa plays Oakland at home and Chicago will go to Houston, 2 teams with nothing to play for so we should basically kiss those chances goodbye. To make things worse, Philly plays at 4:15 while the other 2 play at 1 so if either team wins, the Birds will play deflated. The only thing to play for is beating Dallas and keeping them out of the playoffs. Hopefully they care enough to do that. They can certainly win but can also certainly look terrible. We shall see what team shows up.

w/ TB and CHI losses - Eagles winning 28-10
w/ nothing to play for - Cowboys winning 24-6
