An Interesting Read: 20 Most-Important Phillies

Sunday, November 30, 2008 ·

Tim Malcolm of Phillies Nation put together a great post in which he details the 20 most-important people to the Phillies franchise.

1. Ruben Amaro Jr.

He was handed a golden ticket when Pat Gillick resigned as general manager: The franchise’s second world title, a solid core of major leaguers, a slowly improving farm system. Are the Phillies a first-division team like the Red Sox, Yankees and Cubs? Or are they just another flame-out champion like the White Sox, Cardinals and Marlins? Amaro will decide that by how he works the budget.
There are some other interesting names on that list that it is worth reading. Personally, I'd probably put Hamels #1 because Hamels is the first legitimate ace we've had in a long time and him staying here with the Phillies post-arbitration means so much for our future. Then again, Tim is also right because Ruben Amaro, Jr. will be the one pulling all of these strings.

A small introduction...

We Hate to Lose began in October 2007. The initial purpose of the website was to provide news updates and commentary on all four major sports teams in Philadelphia. Because of time-constraints, in April of 2009, I decided to post only on my first-love, the Philadelphia Phillies.

My name is Justin Evans and I hope you enjoy the site.
