Flyers Spoil Hockey Night in Canada

Saturday, November 15, 2008 ·

The Flyers went into Montreal for the first time since defeating the Canadiens 4-1 in round 2 of last year's playoff. The left same victorious way as they did last May. Goals by Scottie Upshall and Jeff Carter lifted the Flyers to a 2-1 win to move them to 6-6-4 on the season. The Flyers ended their 7 game losing streak to the Canadiens in the regular season.

Scottie Upshall scored on a deflection from a great pass by Mike Richards. Scottie Upshall nearly scored a number of times on similar deflections, but he finally put one home. Upshall was able to provide great energy and it was truthfully the first time I've seen it consistently from him all season.

Jeff Carter's goal came via a perfect pass from Simon Gagne, which allowed Jeff Carter to skate on in alone and bury a wrist shot top shelf.

Martin Biron took a shutout halfway throuh the third period before he was beat on a one-timer out in front. Biron stopped 24 shots and has continued to show signs that he is back to being the same Biron that was there for the Flyers in the playoffs.

Since starting the season 0-3-3, The Flyers have quietly gone 6-3-1 in their last 10 games. In a couple of those losses, they blew leads as well. The Flyers will look to build a winning streak tomorrow when they host the Atlanta Thrashers. Expect the ice to be sloppy with a Sixers game being there tonight.

Highlights after the jump.

A small introduction...

We Hate to Lose began in October 2007. The initial purpose of the website was to provide news updates and commentary on all four major sports teams in Philadelphia. Because of time-constraints, in April of 2009, I decided to post only on my first-love, the Philadelphia Phillies.

My name is Justin Evans and I hope you enjoy the site.
