No Offense but...Rod Barajas?

Sunday, May 18, 2008 ·

Nothing is worse than when a waste of money signing for the Phillies gets released when the season is over and comes back to get revenge...or lucky. Last night, Rod Barajas, now of the Toronto Blue Jays hit a grand slam and solo home run to help the Jays beat the Phillies 6-3.

Adam Eaton's bad second inning cost him a chance to win and outside of that inning he did not pitch overly poorly as he threw 5 innings, giving up 4 earned on 8 hits and 2 walks, while striking out 3. The bullpen did well until the 9th inning when Tom Gordon gave up 2 earned on 1 home run (Barajas) and 4 hits.

The offense only had 6 hits last night as Jimmy Rollins had 3 of them. A.J. Burnett did a good job of shutting down the Phillies. Rollins upped his average to .329 on the season, while knocking in 2. He continues to hit well since returning to the team.

Today, we have Kyle Kendrick going against Shawn Marcum, another pitcher who has pitched very well for the Jays this year. The game is at 1:35 on CW17.
