A little late, but extremely explosive.

The Phillies offense exploded yesterday during the 6th and 7th innings to pound the Astros 15-6. It was a game that at one point looked dismal because Cole Hamels did not have his best stuff and the Astros jumped out to a 6-4 lead.

The Phillies did not quit though as they hit 11 of their 16 hits off Houston relief pitchers, Fernando Nieve, Wesley Wright, and Dave Borkowski. The 11 hits included a home run by both Pat Burrell and Chase Utley, their 14th and 15th of the season respectively. Even Cole Hamels joined the hit party as he recorded 2 of their 5 hits off starter Chris Sampson, including a RBI single. Ryan Howard was the only Phillies starter not to get a hit. Top 2nd - Geoff Jenkins 2-run home run, 3-2 Astros

The Phillies now come home for a ten game homestand against an injury-plauged Colorado Rockies team, the first place Florida Marlins, and the Cincinnati Reds.

Jamie Moyer faces off against Jorge De La Rosa tonight.
