A little late, but extremely explosive.

The Phillies offense exploded yesterday during the 6th and 7th innings to pound the Astros 15-6. It was a game that at one point looked dismal because Cole Hamels did not have his best stuff and the Astros jumped out to a 6-4 lead.

The Phillies did not quit though as they hit 11 of their 16 hits off Houston relief pitchers, Fernando Nieve, Wesley Wright, and Dave Borkowski. The 11 hits included a home run by both Pat Burrell and Chase Utley, their 14th and 15th of the season respectively. Even Cole Hamels joined the hit party as he recorded 2 of their 5 hits off starter Chris Sampson, including a RBI single. Ryan Howard was the only Phillies starter not to get a hit. For a full listing of how they scored, click the jump.

Top 2nd - Geoff Jenkins 2-run home run, 3-2 Astros

The Phillies now come home for a ten game homestand against an injury-plauged Colorado Rockies team, the first place Florida Marlins, and the Cincinnati Reds.

Jamie Moyer faces off against Jorge De La Rosa tonight.

A small introduction...

We Hate to Lose began in October 2007. The initial purpose of the website was to provide news updates and commentary on all four major sports teams in Philadelphia. Because of time-constraints, in April of 2009, I decided to post only on my first-love, the Philadelphia Phillies.

My name is Justin Evans and I hope you enjoy the site.
