Temple was the first team out of the field of 64 today as they lost to Michigan State 72-61. The Owls, who skipped their 6:20 a.m. shoot-around, shot only 38% from the field and 6-23 (26%)from behind the arc. Season leading scorer, Dionte Christmas shot 1-12 on the day.
It was a disappointing day for the Owls who only stayed in the game for a little while in the first half. Michigan State had a very good balanced scoring attack and they played great defense, contesting almost every Temple shot.
Temple is the first of three Big Five teams to lose in the tournament. Lets hope Saint Joseph's and Villanova advance to the second round.
It was still a good year for the Owls, who were predicted to finish ninth in the A-10 this season. They were Atlantic 10 regular season runner-up and the conference tournament champion. They will lose seniors Chris Clark, Mark Tyndale, and Orlando Miller. They might be able to do a repeat run, but it'll be tough losing Tyndale's leadership.
