Phillies Notes

The Phillies made a few roster moves today. First, they claimed right-handed reliever Tim Lahay off waivers from the Chicago Cubs. Lahay is a Rule 5 guy, so he will have to remain on the 25-man roster for a year before they could move him to the minors. They have the option to waive him, but they will not be able to option or designate him to the minors.

Originally drafted in 2004 as a catcher by the Twins, the 26-year-old Lahey went 8-4 with 14 saves and a 3.65 ERA in 52 games in double-A and triple-A last season.
In other news, Wes Helms will remain on the 25-man roster. Rumors of being traded to San Francisco for reliever Steve Kline were dismissed as San Francisco turned down the offer.

Minor League News: The Phillies signed infielder Chris Woodward to a minor-league contract. Woodward hit .393 in 15 games for the Yankees this spring. Also, the Phillies sent J.D. Durbin, infielder Roy Olmedo and outfielder Chris Snelling to triple-A Lehigh Valley.

Lastly, Myers is sporting a mohawk.

A small introduction...

We Hate to Lose began in October 2007. The initial purpose of the website was to provide news updates and commentary on all four major sports teams in Philadelphia. Because of time-constraints, in April of 2009, I decided to post only on my first-love, the Philadelphia Phillies.

My name is Justin Evans and I hope you enjoy the site.
