Whenever the power play is down, it never hurts to play a game against the New York Islanders. Whenever the goalie play looks inconsistent, it never hurts to play the New York Islanders.
Thankfully, we played the Islanders last night and beat them 4-1 by way of 3 power-play goals to go along great goaltending by Marty Biron. Biron made 32 saves to pace the way to a Flyers win. Biron improved to 6-0 against the New York Islanders this season.
Flyers Goals
1-0 PPG Vinny Prospal (Daniel Briere, Mike Knuble)
2-0 PPG Braydon Coburn (Jaroslav Modry, Joffrey Lupul)
3-0 PPG Daniel Briere (Mike Richards, Kimmo Timonen)
4-0 Scott Hartnell (Vinny Prospal, Daniel Briere)
Since joining the Flyers, Vinny Prospal has 10 points (3G, 7A, +5) in 13 games for the Flyers. Since the addition of Prospal, Briere's play has picked up as well. In the 13 games with Vinny, Briere has 13 points (7G, 6A, +3). I think it is safe to say that Prospal was a very good trade deadline acquistion.
