Flyers Hold On

Tuesday, February 5, 2008 ·

The Flyers held on to regain sole possession of first place after a Steve Downie blast with 4 and a half minutes left gave the Flyers a 3-2 lead over the Thrashers. Niittymaki made some great saves in the closing seconds to preserve the win. The Flyers now have 65 points with a game in hand over the Devils and Penguins who both have 63 points.

Antero Niittymaki has improved to 8-0 all-time against Atlanta as he made 23 saves for the Flyers. The Flyers scored two more power play goals. Mike Knuble continued his hot play by deflecting a Mike Richards shot early in the first and in the second Richards put a slap shot past Lehtonen.

The Flyers played a complete game similar to their win on Saturday against the Ducks. Hopefully that awful performance against the Rangers made them realize they cannot just go autopilot through the season, especially that the top overall seed in the Eastern Conference is now in reach.

A small introduction...

We Hate to Lose began in October 2007. The initial purpose of the website was to provide news updates and commentary on all four major sports teams in Philadelphia. Because of time-constraints, in April of 2009, I decided to post only on my first-love, the Philadelphia Phillies.

My name is Justin Evans and I hope you enjoy the site.
