The Philadelphia Inquirer suggests that the Eagles may look into signing Safety Gibril Wilson who was not given the franchise tag by the New York Giants. The addition of Wilson would be a lot cheaper than adding Asante Samuel, which will likely cost $10-12 million per year and a signing bonus around $20 million.
Adding 26-year old Wilson, would give the Eagles flexibility in the draft because there are not many quality safeties, but there are few first-round talented corners. Another plus, is that Wilson has knowledge of Jim Johnson's system because he played for Steve Spagnoulo, a former Eagles assistant.
Even if Dawkins is completely healthy and returns to form this year, Wilson would likely play alongside of him because Considine is nothing special and Mikell, though makes plays, is not really a full-time starter. Wilson was somewhat a defensive playmaker last year with 4 interceptions. I think he'd be a nice pick-up for the Eagles.
